Costs for Treatment Services

Charges for professional services are based on the amount of time the clinician spends providing them.

Sessions are normally 45 minutes long. The charge for an initial session is $160. Subsequent sessions are $125 for 45 minutes and $160 for longer sessions. We accept payment by check or cash; you may also pay with Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, and other digital means. We do not accept credit or debit cards. (If you have a Health Savings Account, checks drawn on that account can cover charges.)

We are in-network with Aetna and BlueCross BlueShield. They often (but not always) provide coverage for some of our charges. They typically require a co-payment and also a deductible amount. We are not in network with other insurance companies.

Psychological evaluations for learning problems and similar issues often require considerable time. Again, the cost depends on the amount of time the clinician spends on the evaluation. During the initial meeting, the psychologist will discuss with you what seems to be needed.

With learning problems, a full evaluation typically includes testing for both learning disability and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This includes a diagnostic interview, review of records, questionnaires about behavior patterns, testing of ability and achievement, a conference to review the results, and composition of a written report. The charge for this often ranges from $1050 to $1200. If only ADHD is being evaluated, the cost is often under $500.

Testing for annual home school standardized testing and/or testing to determine eligibility for early admission to kindergarten in the schools is a special category. Health insurance does not pay for this. The cost is approximately $200, but it may vary slightly because the tests needed vary from one situation to the next.
