Claude P. Ragan, Ph.D.
Dr. Ragan is a clinical psychologist who provides all of the services mentioned on the Home page.
He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Fuller School of Psychology in California. He completed additional training at Eastern Virginia Medical School and at the Gestalt Training Center in San Diego. In the past he has taught psychology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Pepperdine University, and Lenoir-Rhyne University, at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
His approach as a therapist is based on many years of practice with individuals seeking help for a variety of issues. He offers Christian counseling for those who desire this. As a Christian counselor, he helps people deal with personal growth within the context of their faith; this approach does not impose a belief system on people seeking help.
Psychotherapy is effective for many emotional and behavioral problems. Therapeutic techniques are individualized in order to achieve positive outcomes for each person; there is no one approach that is appropriate for everyone. Dr. Ragan has expertise in diagnosis, psychological assessment, and educational testing. This can include evaluation of personality, achievement, and intelligence.
Above all, respect for each person’s differences and for personal goals is basic.
